Three
different species of bass were introduced to Southern Africa
in the early 1920s; the Largemouth, Smallmouth and
Spotted Bass. Since then, both adult and child learned the
different techniques to entice the bass into biting their
hook and confidently learned of the ability to catch bass
on artificial lures. A special breed of angler was a result
of this wondeful, technical sport and they were aptly named
Bassmasters.
Bass
now co-exist within southern African waters and thrive
amongst the myriad of fish species available. This, and
the natural diversity of insects, creatures and crustaceans,
the bass angler is faced with is his big question. What
bait do I choose? Where? How and why? Bass fishing probably
offers the largest amount of variables in sport today,
yet the best way to begin is to consider history, circumstance
and apply your own thought patterns of logic to find the
fish. This is where the Complete Guide to Bass Fishing
of Southern Africa can offer the Bassmaster and novice
the chance to learn the Genesis about our waters in the
wildest Africa.
